Hyderabad: It's always worrisome when common people face problem from the people in power, more so when the people who are harassing are police officials. But put your worries aside, now even the commoners can directly complaint about their problem to the Telangana Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services VK Singh.
Prisons DG VK Singh informed that people can directly meet him for any complaint, asserting that they want to make Telangana a role model for the rest of the country. "We will be available anytime during office hours to meet the public," he added.
He told that the officials have been taking measures time and again to provide better lives to the prisoners. The DG informed that they have plans to have 100 petrol pumps in the state by this year-end which are managed by the former prisoners. This would help them to be self-reliant and an assured employment after they come out of the jail, VK Singh observed. The department is already operating 13 petrol pumps in different districts, manned by as many as 150 released prisoners and nearly 200 inmates (convicts undergoing sentences), besides former jail authorities, he pointed out.
Apart from this to curb the menace of beggars in the city, they came up with an innovative idea. It said that anyone giving information about beggars on city streets will be given a reward of Rs 500. The prisons department has launched an initiative to rehabilitate the beggars in the city. The department is providing beggars shelter, food, counselling and employment skills training.
