Adilabad: In a tragic incident, two sisters committed suicide on Thursday by consuming pesticide after the marriage of one of the siblings, was fixed against her wishes. The two have been identified as Anjula (18) and Archana (19). They belong to Bondidi village of Naradigonda Mandalam in Adilabad district.

While the younger girl Anjula studied till Class 7, Archana was pursuing degree first year. According to SI Venkanna, Anjula's parents selected a groom for her and fixed the marriage. But she was not interested in marrying that boy and told her father as much. He did not pay heed to her words and insisted that she should marry the selected groom. Depressed over this, Anjula took Archana along with her, informing the parents at home that they are going out. Later it was found that the two girls did not return for a very long time. The parents approached the police and lodged a complaint about the girls having gone missing.

A frantic search revealed that both the sisters came to Hyderabad and then went to Ichoda and Sirkonda. The duo consumed pesticide at Sirkonda and were spotted by the villagers, who informed the parents and local police. After having found them in an unconscious state, both the sisters were shifted to RIMX hospital. However, the two died undergoing treatment. A case has been registered and police are probing the matter.
