Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has sanctioned Rs 30 crores according special importance to minority communities in the state.
In this regard, KCR on Thursday directed the minorities welfare department to release a GO sanctioning an amount of Rs 20 crores to the 'Shaadi Mubarak Scheme'. A similar GO was issued releasing Rs 10 crores for 'Chief Minister's Overseas Schoalrship Scheme for Minorities'.
Shaadi Mubarak is a scheme to help the economically downtrodden sections by providing financial aid to get daughters married. It may be recalled that in the last three years a total of Rs 350 crore was spent to help needy girls. The scholarship scheme is meant to encourage students to take up higher eductaion. Out of this a total amount of Rs. 285.45 crore was spent on 'Shaadi Mubarak Scheme' alone which benefitted nearly 55,972 girls.
A total of 588 students went abroad to pursue higher education. An amount of Rs 47.31 crore was spent on the students’ overseas education under this scheme.
