Anushka's first outing post Baahubali franchise was Bhaagamathie which released around the Indian Republic Day. The film received a thumping response from the critics and public alike and the lead actress's stellar performance was much being talked about. Bhaagamathie is a action-thriller where Anushka plays an IAS officer's role in the film for the first time.

The film has created huge hype among the movie buffs with trailer and teaser which have helped film fetch more numbers at the box office. Bhaagamathie got a solo release in the Republic Day Weekend. But, in its second week Bhaagamathie faced competition from Naga Shourya's Chalo which has now become a threat to the former film resulting in a dip in the collections.

Bhaagamathie raked in $2,535 at the foreign box office in its seventeen days of run. The film could have done better if not for the release of two romantic films— Tholi Prema and Chalo which have diverted the audiences through their word of mouth publicity. Apart from Anushka, Bhaagamathie also features Unni Mukundan and Aadhi in vital roles.
