The world of films screams glitz, glamour, name and fame. It's also about expectations, disappointments and being a part of the fake 'fantasy world' that the showbiz is all about. But it's not just talent that counts. Movies too are a gamble and one has to be plain lucky to survive in the industry. Haven't we heard tales of even huge stars delivering flop after flop or of those who just don't get enough work?

While a few people who take both success and failures in their stride, move on to other businesses to make ends meet, the others who are so taken in by the magic of it all simply can't accept the fate. They want to make it at any cost. Some artistes are lucky to get the right opportunities which will take them the distance but everybody is not so fortunate.

A few weak minded people who can't think beyond cinema cut short their lives. There have been instances of many a celebrities who have given up their life over several reasons. Here's a look at the untimely death of a few Telugu actors. A case in point is that of the Bommarillu actor Vijay who ended his life this morning over depression caused by debts.

Yesteryear actress Jayalakshmi Reddy, popularly known as Phataphat Jayalaxmi, committed suicide when she was at the peak of her career in 1980. She was married to the nephew of MG Ramachandran. Born in Madras (now Chennai), Jayalakshmi appeared in 66 movies across Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada industries. She gave up on her life over relationship issues, it is learned.

Silk Smitha, originally known as Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati, was found dead at her house in Chennai in 1996. The news shocked her fans as she was the Sunny Leone of those times who had earned herself the sex symbol tag for her raunchy films. The reports claimed that she was depressed over increasing debts caused by producing box office duds.

Divya Bharti, who worked in Telugu movies opposite stars like Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu, Venkatesh and Nandamuri Balakrishna, died after falling from the balcony of her fifth floor apartment in Mumbai. Some theories claim that she was in a state of depression and committed suicide by consuming alchohol after discovering husband's mafia connection. Other say it was an accidental death.

Tollywood actress Prathyusha committed suicide along with her boyfriend Siddhartha Reddy after her parents opposed the marriage proposal. She died while undergoing treatment, while her boyfriend survived. Prathyusha was at the pinnacle of her career when she died.

Uday Kiran: The actor who had once ruled Tollywood with his back-top-back hits like Manasantha Nuvve and Nuvvu Nenu eventually lost his way after his engagement to Chiranjeevi's daughter Sushmita broke down. He ended his life over non availability of work in the film industry.

Aarti Agarwal: The actress attempted suicide twice over love failure. But survived both the time. Unfortunately, the actress died an untimely death while undergoing liposuction at a US hospital.

Ranganath: Senior TV actor and character artiste in Telugu movies, Ranganath hanged himself from the ceiling leaving all his wealth to his maid. His suicide note was scribbled on the wall. The real reason for his suicide was not known.
