Even as Leader of the Opposition and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is touring Anantapur as part of his 3000-km Praja Sankalpa Yatra, an active YSRCP worker Chenna Reddy was brutally done to death. The incident occurred near Badanapalli vilalge in Dharmavaram mandal on Wednesday. The incident has sent shock waves in the region.

Unidentified assailants armed with sickles and swords attacked Chenna Reddy while he was supervising works at his agricultural fields in Badanapalli. Chenna Reddy died on the spot. Reddy has been active in the party from its inception and has been mobilising support for the party in Dharmavaram mandal. His rivals, who did not like his political activism, plotted his murder. YSRCP leaders charged the police with being lackadaisical in investigating political murders in Andhra Pradesh. They said cases were not being registered under pressure from the ruling party leaders.
