Hyderabad: Here's yet another case of superstition and this it is an MLA's daughter who was duped of Rs 57 lakh by illiterate Koya pujaris in the name Graha Dosham pujas.

Koya pujaris Pastam Narsimha Raju and Vamshi of Karimabad in the city somehow got acquainted with MLA Challa Dharma Reddy's daughter Manasa who stayed in Warangal previously. They suggested her that her father would become a minister if they perform some rituals. They also tempted her by assuring that she herself will become an MLA with the effect of their pujas. Once she agreed to go ahead, they started collecting money in huge sums. In the past one year, Manasa paid them Rs 57 lakh on different occasions.

As nothing happened even after months, Manasa realized that she was cheated by the Koya pujaris and then informed the family. Her father-in-law Shamreddy Balreddy filed a complaint with the Subedari police stating that the pujaris duped Manasa of Rs 57 lakh in the name of Graha Dosham pujas. Manasa now stays in Vanasthalipuram in the city.

The police are investigating the case. Meanwhile, Dharma Reddy, who had switched over to TRS from his parent party TDP after getting elected, said his daughter got the pujas done only for his health and not for any ministry.
