Xiaomi introduced a new Redmi Y series of smartphones namely Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite, with a focus on the front camera setup. Along with Smartphones, Xiaomi is releasing the MIUI 9 Global Stable custom Android skin for compatible phones in India starting mid-November. The software build has been optimised to deliver superfast performance, such as quicker app launches.

The global Vice President of Xiaomi Manu Kumar Jain said that Xiaomi will make a total of four major announcements at the recent event in New Delhi.
